GreenCure® is a potassium bicarbonate based, broad spectrum foliar
fungicide for the curative and preventative control of powdery mildew, black spot, Botrytis
blight, Downy mildew, rust spots and other plant diseases.
Naturally Safe: The beauty of these
products is their simple effectiveness and the "environmentally responsible"
nature of the formulation. Since potassium bicarbonate is a simple compound found in
nature, using it as an effective fungicide is not considered disruptive or
harmful to human health or the environment.
Proven Effective: Since 1985, plant pathologist, Ken Horst, Ph.D. and
his team of researchers at Cornell University have experimented, tested and
refined the use of bicarbonates for the control of foliar plant diseases.
Bicarbonates have
been known for their fungicidal activity for years, but achieving the
correct formulation to obtain superior foliar disease control has been
elusive-until the development of this formula.
Research has shown that homemade concoctions do not have the same
effectiveness as GreenCure®.
Application of bicarbonates alone have minimal effectiveness and mixing in various
chemicals more often leads to phytoxicity or burning of the leaves.
The current formulation is the
result of years of research involving over 350 different additives to achieve a formulation that
delivers commercial performance levels to home and garden enthusiasts.
GreenCure® is labeled for use on over 85 different annual and perennial
flowers, woody and ornamental shade trees, woody and herbaceous ornamentals,
many herbs and vegetables, and ornamental nut and fruit trees.

Under an Electron Microscope, it is
possible to see how the mildew spores on the right
are
completely withered after being treated with GreenCure®.
The spore on the left is untreated and remains plump
and continues to send out an infectious tube to spread its destruction.
GreenCure® causes spores and tubes to suffer immediate and rapid water loss,
thereby effectively killing the fungus. Once destroyed, the residual
spore material often sloughs off or washes away.
Potassium Bicarbonate:
A "Bio-Compatible" Compound
Sodium bicarbonate and potassium bicarbonate are commonly used compounds generally
recognized as safe (GRAS) by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
Thus, it can be "used in foods with no limitation other than good
manufacturing practices." In fact, the normal physiology of plants, animals
and chemical equilibria of soil, water and air readily accommodate the
bicarbonate ion and potassium.
